How To get a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa / IRD # / Bank Account

Working Holiday Visas

WHVs should ideally be sorted before arriving in New Zealand. Generally it is much easier to obtain these whilst in your home country. You will have ready access to any documents that might be required. To find out more about getting a Working Holiday Visa check out the New Zealand Immigration website.

IRD Numbers

Inland Revenue changed the process and requirements for obtaining a New Zealand IRD Number. To find out more about getting an IRD number go to We may be able to help with some of the requirements, you will need to talk to us at reception. You can Download the application form IR742 here. Complete this form and take it to either a NZ Post shop or an IRD Office near to you, along with the required documents.

Bank Accounts

Bank accounts can be opened at any bank, the closest to Bell Lodge are
Kiwibank and ANZ Bank. You will need proof of where you are currently living to open the account, again we can help with this too.

Seasonal Work

Earn while you stay. Many of our guests are world travellers taking a gap year and making the most of New Zealand by traveling on a Working Holiday Visa. We’re happy to assist in looking for seasonal work.

On-site Facilities

We’re pretty laid back at Bell Lodge. It’s up to you when you want to focus on the fun or relaxation. You can enjoy a a picnic or BBQ, or, if you prefer to spend time indoors, watch some TV or choose from over 400 DVDs available from the office. For a (small nominal fixed) fee, there are PC’s connected to the Internet for those who like to surf the web.
